"Nantucket! Take out your map and look at it. See what a real corner of the world it occupies; how it stands there, away off shore..." Herman Melville

Our extended family trip to Jackson Hole was so much fun the previou summer that we decided to do a similar vacation to Nantucket. So, my Mom, my sister's family and our family headed to the far away island for a fantastic week!

“...we explored the island by foot and by Jeep!"

We had such a great time together as an extended family: all the cousins got to play together, we had too many wonderful dining experience to count, and we explored the island by foot and by Jeep! Our

GETTING THERE

There really is no easy way to get to Nantucket if you live in the south like we do. And it takes a dedicated day of travel. We had accumulated a ton of frequent flier points on Southwest. So, we flew SWA to Logan Airport in Boston (through St. Louis). We hired a driver through Kon Limo Service to take us to Hyannis. And then boarded the Hy-Line high-speed ferry to Nantucket.

WHERE TO STAY

The Nantucket Hotel - if you can imagine a hotel that is quaint yet can accommodate our family of 11 in a 4-bedroom + loft configuration, then you have the Nantucket Hotel. The staff are beyond helpful and attentive; and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Nantucket was the perfect "home base" if smaller groups wanted to go off on their own excursions and then reunite later in the day for lunch or dinner.
